Lolita's With Glasses

Posted by Unknown at 20:58 0 comments

I have heard it asked multiple times by new Lolita's...is it ok to wear glasses?

Wearing glasses in Lolita Fashion most certainly is accepted. Some of us can't or just don't want to wear contacts so we are stuck with good old fashioned glasses so we can see. You shouldn't be stumbling around bumping into things and squinting your eyes just for a fashion statement. Although a lot of Lolita's do wear contact lenses for the big eyed doll look, this is not essential.

Try to make it work. If you are concerned that wearing glasses won't suit Lolita don't fret and get your frilly knickers in a knot. There are plenty of Lolita's who wear glasses, you just need to put some effort into making it work.

Try for a simple frame. If you wear Lolita often and multiple sub styles, then you may just want to get a simple pair. Buying a plain black or silver pair will go with many styles and won't draw too much attention to them. You could also go with a cute nerdy pair or a retro style, they would look pretty awesome with most sub styles.

Get them to match your look. Are you a Sweet Lolita or a Classic? Some people like to stick mainly to one sub style, if so you could have fun choosing an awesome pair of glasses to match with all your outfits. If you are an over the top Sweet Lolita, then try going for a cute pink pair, or some cute little Hello Kitty ones. You could easily have your glasses as the most eye catching part of your coordinate.

Go for more than one pair. If you like to change up from Sweet to Gothic or you just want to have a pair of glasses to go with each outfit, why not get two pairs. Get a nice pink pair and then a black pair if you want, two that are the complete opposite from each other so they will go with more styles.

My First Dress

Posted by Unknown at 20:23 0 comments

This dress was my first ever Lolita purchase. It took me some time to learn how to coordinate it nicely with the black and white colour scheme but I love it all the same. This has by far been my best Lolita purchase, as the dress is comfortable and looks amazing. This dress holds the memories of my first private tea party with my friends (these pictures).

How I fit the Lolita Cliché

  • I drink a lot of tea and I collect tea cups and tea pots. My favourite type of Lolita meet up is a tea party.

  • I am obsessed with Hello Kitty and Sanrio characters. I  love all things cute and adorable from bunnies to kitties. I collect cute stationary to try and add a little cuteness into my school life.

  • I can't bake unfortunately (I couldn't cook to save my life), but when I do get the chance I don't mind cooking a simple packet mix of cupcakes. I also really love to eat cupcakes. Not to mention I love everything sweet as I am the worlds worst sweet tooth.

  • I really like anime, that's how I got introduced to Lolita. I really like Japanese pop culture and I have a collection of anime figures, manga and anime boxsets...I even have a Vocaloid wall scroll.

  • I am very crafty. At one point I got into jewellery making, then scrap-booking, then I got into card making (which I still do from time to time). I have a draw full of craft supplies and even if I don't do much craft any more I still like to get some stuff out and make something every now and then.

  • I really like fairy tales, and I am a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland. I have a second hand hard cover Alice in Wonderland book and a second hand illustrated Sleeping Beauty book that I love to pieces. I also happen to like Anne of Green Gables believe it or not.

How I don't fit the cliché...

  • I am a little bit of a geeky nerd, which may not obviously be a thing of Lolita. I am a big fan of Doctor Who and I watch a lot of Sci-fi movies and shows such as Battle Star Galactica.

  • I can't sew to save my life, or knit very well and I have never crocheted. Ask the frilly Lolita to fix your clothes...it'll come back worse then what you started with ^^'

  • I do care about manners, but not to the point of Victorian etiquette. I do like English a lot, but I also like to stay current as we live in the 20th century, and I tend to swear sometimes (by mistake of course).
