I Have Aquired a Bike

Posted by Caitlin George at 17:09 0 comments

As the title may suggest, I now have a super cute vintage styled push bike. I bought this online second hand and got my parents to help me pick it up (it barely fit in the car). After a good clean up and some customisation, I have fallen in love with it.

I plan to be riding my bike in whatever I feel like wearing, and yes this includes Lolita Fashion and everything else I wear. However I am still going to try and be somewhat conventional with my outfit choices when I know I want to go out and ride (i.e. nothing too expensive, long and no crazy accessories).

I have had a few small rides on my bike so far, however I am not a very fit person so it will take me some time to build up my stamina. I plan to use this as a means of transportation once I build up my fitness level enough to ride it for long distances.

SMASH 2016

Posted by Caitlin George at 16:54 0 comments

I know this post is god awful late and I haven't been using this blog in a long time, but I really have no excuses for it. So here you go, some late SMASH Anime and Manga Convention pictures.

This year I decided to try out Fairy Kei for the first time, instead of a cosplay option or my usual Lolita. Since I wear Lolita Fashion mostly in my everyday now, I didn't see the point of wearing it to a convetion personally, since they are like casual clothes are too everyone else. I really wanted to dress up and have some fun, so Fairy Kei was my chance to do this and be creative.

I only attended the Sunday and only made it there at about lunch time, but all in all I had a fabulous time. I met with a lot of friends and people from my Lolita community while I was there, so it was great to see some friendly faces and catch up with some people.

Gallery Meet

Posted by Caitlin George at 14:16 2 comments
The other day I caught up with my Lolita community at the Art Gallery of NSW. It has been a very long time since I have made it to a Lolita Meet. I barely know the girls in my community and it had been more than a year since I last made it to a meet. I only managed to make it to a quick lunch time gathering the previous year and I've been to the Misako Tea Party. So therefore I was still quite shy and awkward.

My boyfriend came along to the meet with me which made me feel a lot better. I have to travel quite a way to get to my community and I get lost easily, so going alone was just not an option for me. I'm glad he is more than happy to come along to events like this with me.

We went to an art gallery which was a lot of fun. The art was really nice to look at, and there was a painting by Monet which was by far my favourite. It was my second time going to this gallery and it was so much more fun going with a big group of Lolita's. The exhibition we saw was called the 'The Greats: masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland', and all the art was gorgeous.

There were a lot of girls who showed up late, so we ended up spending quite a time in the gallery, allowing everyone to look properly at the art. So I ended up socialising and meeting a lot of interesting people. I gushed over everyone's coordinates, as everyone looked so beautiful.

I met quite a lot of interesting people and I hope I can form friendships form this community. I bonded with a girl over Hello Kitty after I announced her Hello Kitty backpack was super cute, she then continued to show me every Hello Kitty item within. I received many friend requests on Facebook after the meet and I had sent some myself to the girls that I met.

Overall it was an amazing experience and I am hoping to make it to more frequent meets. It was a super exhausting day with the travel and being on my feet all day. We went to the art gallery and then walked out to have lunch. Afterwards many left to go home or went on their own way, so my boyfriend and I decided to hit up Kinokuniya since we were out in Sydney.

I made some friends. I loved their coordinates so I asked for a photo.

Angelic Pretty 3 Way Bag Book Review

Posted by Caitlin George at 19:09 0 comments

Well I've always wanted to own something brand, yet just didn't have the money. However a nice opportunity presented itself to me, allowing me to get myself my first brand item. I went away for two nights and three days with my boyfriend, to relax and celebrate finishing school. We went to Kinokuniya to pick up some books whilst we were out shopping, so I grabbed two cute Japanese Sanrio children's books to practice my Japanese reading fluency (self taught and suck at it). Whilst waiting in the checkout to buy my over priced picture books, I found an Angelic Pretty bag staring down at me for only $50AUD. I had saved up a lot of spending money for my getaway, and just couldn't resist.

Overall I am very happy with this bag, I love how versatile it is and despite being quite small looking it is very roomy. I believe I will get a lot of use out of this bag, both in and out of Lolita. I'm also planning to use it as a backpack when I start University next year.

Supanova Sydney, 2015

Posted by Caitlin George at 15:21 0 comments
Once again I attended Supanova Pop Culture Convention. I wore the same dress I wore last year to this event, as I had a hat I desperately wanted to coordinate with it (plus it was freezing and I wanted to keep my head warm). I think my coordinate turned out pretty well, considering I threw it together quite literally a day before the convention, due to lack of free time.

Supanova became even more of a special event, as it fell on the date of my boyfriends birthday this year. This was the first time to celebrate his birthday together as a couple. As of this post we have been dating for more than seven months, and I was so glad I could spend this event together with him.

Overall I had a fantastic day. Unfortunately I didn't run into many Lolita's like I had hoped, or anyone I knew for that matter (minus some school friends). I spent the day mainly looking around, talking and taking pictures with cosplayers.

Also to be honest with you, I spent all my savings on the first stall. Remember last years SMASH? Yeah last year I discovered the new indie brand Magic Cats Street...well I spent the only savings I had on a blouse from this brand. I needed some more blouses though, and I couldn't resist checking out this store first. Glad I did though, as it was a purchase well spent.

Bodyline Review

Posted by Caitlin George at 15:59 2 comments
I got my other two Bodyline packages a couple of weeks after the last package...I just neglected to post for a variety of reasons. I'm a super busy gal (and also super lazy), but I will try my best to fit more time into blogging.

I had thought that my packages would come in order, but they did not. I first of all got the shoes delivered to me, which I ordered quite a while after everything else, than my other package came a few days later.

I ordered in the first package five pairs of stockings, a coat, a dress and a pair of bloomers, The other package was two pairs of tea parties. I ordered Bodyline L031 in purple, Bodyline H005 in off white (cream) and Bodyline PAN028 in black. As for the shoes I ordered SHOES256 in both black and pink.

Overall I'm rather happy with my order. The stockings are all good quality especially for their price of USD$3. The bloomers are quite nice, and are really light and airy. I think they will also make great pajama shorts for Summer as well. The coat is really good quality, and looks absolutely adorable. I love all the bows and the cute little pom poms on the pockets. The coat has lining and seems to sit nicely with a petticoat underneath, The coat will need a good iron before I wear it next Winter, but for now it will just sit in the cupboard.

The coat is a little thin, and wouldn't provide that much warmth. It should be fine for me if I wear rather warm clothes underneath, and seems like it will do the trick for the Australian Winter. If you however live in a really cold climate, you may not want to buy this coat to survive the Winter, but rather maybe use it for Fall instead.

The coat with nothing but a petticoat underneath

The dress I received is super pretty, and it fits surprisingly well. My only concern when I got it, was that it looked more brown than purple. I can somewhat see how it is a purple dress in a way, but they could have chosen a prettier shade don't you think? Oh well, it has polka dots on it (who doesn't love polka dots).

I wore the dress to anime club after I had received it, and to International Lolita Day. It's quite comfortable, and a decent dress for Summer....it's just really hard to coordinate though.

International Lolita Day was a really hot day

The tea parties are also quite good...yet they don't fit. I went off Bodyline's shoe sizing chart, and obviously that was wrong. I think I need half a size or a whole size smaller next time I buy their shoes. By adding in some comfort gel things onto the heels they fit slightly better, and they don't move around too much with all the buckles done up thank goodness. Other than the size issue, I am quite happy with them. The colours are adorable, and I love how they are made. My favourite thing about them, is the press studs on the shoes. Once you have the buckles done up to how you desire, you no longer need to use them. Just click and un-clip the shoes using the press studs to get them on and off.

Overall I think I'd give about a 7 or an 8 out of ten for my order. As although they aren't perfect, I am pretty damn happy with what I received for such a small price.
